Prayer and Writing
This month, the topic for the Christian Writers blog chain is ‘The Harvest’. You can read my take at my blog, WordObsession.net. Here is an excerpt:
Much to my chagrin, I could not summon the inspiration to prepare my post before this morning. The topic had me flummoxed, though I couldn’t explain why. ‘The Harvest’ is a topic with a lot of potential. Unfortunately, my inspiration disagreed.

Last night I read a most excellent post by Lydia Harris on Author Culture regarding the role prayer plays in the writing habit.
We can write words, but only God can touch hearts through those words. And no matter how cleverly we craft sentences, without God’s blessing, our words are merely ink on paper.
Her post touched my heart and soul, reminding me of the important role we writers carry with us when we write. We hold the imaginations and hearts of our readers in the palm of our hand. The tone and subject we weave together has the potential to sway and inspire. Should we take that ability lightly and only write for the joy of the craft…?
