NaNoWriMo | Finale

NaNo 2010 turned into the most challenging year yet, and I am not convinced that the story, a Regency romance I titled A Pearl Before Swine, will ever see the light of day. It became a fun – and I use the term loosely – experiment outside my comfort zone, but all in all I am glad that I met the 50k word goal two days early.
It is much the same as dropping a heavy load once you have reached your destination.
Will I finish the overall story? I hope so, as I do not want to add another title to the list of novels that were never completed. In fact, my extreme goal is to finish the storyline tonight or tomorrow and then be done with it for all eternity…
…or at least until I dig it out of the slush pile, dust it off, and decide to attempt a rewrite.
Yes, they say that editing is for December, but until I decide if the storyline as a whole is worth keeping, I do not think that I will devote much more time to it than what I have already. Sad to say, but I didn’t connect with the characters as much as I usually do.
Of course, it could be blamed on a downturn in my positive outlook in regards to my writing; a usual phase we writers trudge through. Why did it fall just before – and therefore during – NaNo?
I wish I knew.
